Frequently Asked Questions
Who administers the IV drip at home a doctor or a nurse? + −
A trained nurse from Sehet.pk's verified network administers the IV drip at your home, following the same safety and hygiene standards used in a hospital setting.
Do I need a doctor's prescription to book an IV drip at home? + −
In most cases yes, a prescription or doctor's advice specifying the fluid/medication is needed. If you don't have one, you can also book a doctor checkup at home first and have the nurse follow up the same day.
What conditions is home IV drip therapy typically used for? + −
It's commonly used for dehydration, food poisoning, vomiting/diarrhea, fatigue, vitamin or fluid replacement, and as a follow up to hospital treatment when ongoing IV fluids are needed at home.
Is it safe to get an IV drip at home instead of at a hospital or clinic? + −
Yes, when administered by a trained nurse using sterile, single-use equipment, it follows the same procedure as a hospital IV setup. The nurse also monitors the patient for the duration of the drip.
How long does the nurse stay during an IV drip visit, and what are the pricing plans? + −
This depends on the plan you choose on sehet.pk. The basic plans — Once a Day (PKR 1,500), Twice a Day (PKR 1,350 per visit), and Thrice a Day (PKR 1,250 per visit) — cover the nurse inserting the drip and guiding you through the process, after which the nurse stays for about 15 minutes before leaving; the drip itself continues to run and doesn't require the nurse to sit through the whole thing. If you'd rather have the nurse stay with the patient for the full duration of the drip, choose the "Drip Application up to 60 Mins" plan (PKR 2,500 per visit) instead — this applies per visit, so for a patient needing multiple doses a day, each visit on this plan is charged at PKR 2,500. A separate Vaccine Infusion plan (PKR 1,500) is also available. You can see and select all of these directly on the website.
Can an IV drip be arranged the same day I book? + −
Same-day service is generally available in Karachi. The best way is to book directly on the website, where a representative confirms the exact time within an hour; if you're unable to book online, you can call/WhatsApp 0318-2800021 instead.
Can IV cannulation and the drip be done in the same visit? + −
Yes, if the patient doesn't already have a cannula in place, the nurse can insert one (IV cannulation) and then run the drip in the same visit.
What should I have ready before the nurse arrives for an IV drip? + −
Have the doctor's prescription (if available), a clear idea of the patient's allergies or reactions to any medication, and a clean, accessible space such as a bed or chair for the patient to sit or lie down during the drip.
